The Tesla CEO told the Financial Times in an interview published Friday that his child’s decision to distance herself from him has been influenced by “neo-Marxists” at educational institutions.

“It’s full-on communism and a general sentiment that if you’re rich, you’re evil,” Musk, 51, said, not specifying which establishments he was referencing.

News broke in June that Vivian had filed to change her name and gender two months prior, requesting that her last name be Wilson instead of Musk.

In the April filing, the teen listed her reasoning as “gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father [Elon] in any way, shape or form.”

While Musk and Wilson did not directly address their daughter’s decision at the time, the 50-year-old writer appeared to tweet about a conversation with Vivian.
